Larimer County offering grants for outdoor, neighborhood, community projects

DENVER (KDVR) — Larimer County is offering small grants for outdoor, neighborhood and community projects as part of its 2026 grant cycle.

The grant cycle is part of the county’s Larimer County Department of Natural Resources Small Grants for Community Partnering Program, the county said Tuesday.

The grant program uses a portion of the Help Preserve Open Space sales tax for nature-based neighborhood and community projects, according to Larimer County, which said the program has awarded more than $445,000 across 246 projects in the county since its start in 1998.

Applicants are allowed to request up to $4,000 per application for projects that take place in Larimer County. The county noted that shovel-ready projects must be completed by the end of 2026 to qualify.

The county is inviting new and returning non-profit organizations, homeowner associations, K-12 schools and community-based organizations to apply for seed money or capacity support for projects that fit into one of five grant categories, including:

  • Projects that provide or enhance natural landscapes
  • Projects that provide nature-based environmental education opportunities
  • Projects that provide access to nature for those experiencing barriers
  • Projects involving local agricultural food production
  • Provide research on Larimer County open spaces

All grant applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. The grant awards will then be announced in mid-February 2026, the county said…
