Northern Colorado’s only mechanical thrombectomy program improves stroke survival and recovery outcomes
UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies (MCR) has reached a significant milestone in advanced stroke care: more than 100 patients have been treated with mechanical thrombectomy since the program launched in late 2023.
MCR is the only hospital in northern Colorado offering thrombectomy, a specialized procedure that removes large blood clots from her brain. Since clots are one of two leading causes of stroke, this lifesaving technique dramatically improves patient outcomes, enabling faster recovery with less disability. Before MCR’s program, patients in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming often had to be transported to Denver for this procedure – if time allowed.
