“Did you lose your emu?”: Four days after first incident, another emu escapes Colorado home

In a case of deja vu, another emu has escaped its home in Colorado just days after a similar incident took place in Lakewood on August 18. Apparently, Centennial State emus are true escape artists.

According to a noon post on August 22 from the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, a call was received earlier in the morning about an emu that was on the loose in the area of Camfield. With the help of a local resident, animal control personnel located and captured the massive bird on private property, slipping a horse lead around it and getting it into a trailer.

The emu was reportedly friendly, with authorities believing it to be someone’s pet. Unfortunately, there was no owner around, thus it’s unknown who that owner might be…
