Car wash raises funds for families of Weld County workers killed at dairy farm

GREELEY, Colo. — A car wash fundraiser organized in Greeley on Saturday drew friends, neighbors and strangers alike to support the families of six workers who died last week at a Weld County dairy, including a 17-year-old high school student.

The victims at Prospect Valley Dairy in Keenesburg were identified by the Weld County coroner as Alejandro Espinoza Cruz, 50; his son, Oscar Espinoza Leos, 17; Carlos Espinoza Prado, 29; Jorge Sanchez Pena, 36; Ricardo Gomez Galvan, 40; and Noe Montanez Casanas, 32. Authorities said the workers were likely exposed to a toxic gas, and local and federal agencies continue to investigate.

Yulissa Orquiz, who helped organize the fundraiser, described Oscar Espinoza Leos as “like a little brother for me. He’s my brother’s best friend.”…
