19-year-old man sentenced for Greeley homicide

GREELEY, Colo. — A man has been sentenced for a shooting that killed another man near the University of Northern Colorado campus last year.

Marco Ruiz Villescaz, 19, was sentenced on Friday to two years in the Youthful Offender System after pleading guilty to reckless manslaughter in July. If he doesn’t successfully complete the two-year sentence, he’ll serve four years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.

According to the Greeley Police Department, the shooting happened just after 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 in the 2000 block of 9th Avenue. When police arrived, they found Jesus Manuel Solis, 19, lying in the roadway, police said. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased…
