Female jousting troupe draws crowds at Scottish Festival in Estes Park

If you looked at the program for the Long’s Peak Scottish-Irish Festival held in Estes Park this past weekend, you would see that “jousting” was scheduled every day at 2:00 in the Rodeo Arena.

What you wouldn’t know from looking at the schedule is that the jousters were all women.

The female-led jousting troupe, Knights of the Tempest, performed for a full crowd at the Long’s Peak Scottish-Irish Festival on Saturday, September 6. This was their second time being invited to the festival and their second time performing this particular show.

Jo O’Brien, who wrote and directed the show, said, “Usually Friday is slow. But there was a big crowd yesterday and we expect the same tomorrow.”…
