Weld County Human Services honored for their work in placing children in safe homes
Doubling down on human services’ efforts to keep foster children with their blood relations, the Weld County Board of Commissioners declared September as Kinship Appreciation Month.
“The Colorado average in terms of kin placements is approximately 50%. Weld County exceeds that, with about 63% of child welfare placements going to kin,” said Jamie Ulrich, Weld County Department of Human Services Director.
Weld County has built a kin-first culture within the Child Welfare Team, focusing on placing children and youth with relatives nearby, according to officials.
