CASPER, Wyo. — A Greeley, Colorado, man was sentenced to 97 months in prison on Aug. 22 for his part in a methamphetamine trafficking scheme in Campbell and Sheridan counties. Meanwhile, a Wind River Reservation woman will serve 84 months for participating in similar crimes on native lands.
42-year-old Calvin Eugene Stroup was first indicted Jan. 15 before ultimately pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute June 4 and having his sentence handed down Aug. 22. He was formally convicted by U.S. District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl in Casper. U.S. Attorney Cameron J. Cook prosecuted the case, according to the Wyoming’s U.S. Attorney’s Office.
According to the attorney’s office, Stroup was found to be a middleman in a larger scheme to traffic large quantities of product and sell them around Wyoming, primarily in Sheridan and Campbell counties.
