DENVER (KDVR) — Firefighters are known to be ready rain or shine to serve their communities, but Poudre Fire Authority crews on Tuesday also braved hail and lightning to put out a fire at a memory care facility.
The fire was in the attic of a facility in the 5050 block of South Lemay Avenue in Fort Collins, and over 30 people were evacuated during the fire, the Poudre Fire Authority said in a Facebook post.
Responding crews had to walk over freshly fallen piles of hail to enter the building and search for the origin of the smoke seen from the roof. They found the fire in the attic and confirmed it did not spread into the walls or ceiling of the building…
