Larimer County Launches New Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit in Longview with Community Support

Larimer County has officially expanded its youth behavioral health services with the opening of an adolescent unit at the Longview campus. This new addition, celebrated with the presence of more than 100 attendees, aims to fill a crucial gap in care for young people requiring crisis stabilization and withdrawal management, as reported by Larimer County Behavioral Health Services.

The Acute Care facility, funded by taxpayer dollars, has been operational since December 2, 2023. This new unit is designed to provide short-term, overnight care to young individuals between the ages of 12 and 17. Amy Martonis, director of Larimer County Behavioral Health Services, expressed her hopes that the unit would be a bastion of high-quality, compassionate care accessible to the community’s youth, as she told the publication celebrating the event.

Larimer County’s residents have played an instrumental role in realizing this vision with their votes in favor of the dedicated behavioral health tax back in 2018. This tax helped finance both the construction and operation of the facility that hosts the Acute Care center.
