Red light cameras have been a polarizing topic in Northern Colorado, to say the least. Soon, another town will be installing them at a busy intersection in an attempt to change driving behaviors and discourage them from running red lights.
Dangerous Driving at Windsor’s 7th and Main
This is one of the intersections that I drive through nearly every day. I have seen many people blow through red lights, just to get slowed down less than a block later due to all of the other vehicles on the road.
The Town of Windsor announced the launch of the new automated traffic safety program with the upcoming installation of four red light cameras in every direction at the intersection of 7th and Main Streets.
Windsor partnered with Verra Mobility for the traffic safety technology to administer the program. Cameras will capture images of the license plates of drivers who do not make a complete stop at the intersection’s red light when going straight or turning.
Windsor Police to Review Violations
According to the Windsor Police Department, each potential violation will be reviewed and verified by the police department before a citation is issued. If a driver does not stop at the red light at the intersection of 7th and Main Streets, they will receive a $75 fine…
