Fort Collins Weather Alert: Dense Morning Fog Reduces Visibility Across Northern Colorado

FORT COLLINS, COLORADO — A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for northern Colorado this morning, with visibility reduced to under 100 yards in some locations. The National Weather Service in Denver warns that thick fog is creating dangerous travel conditions along major highways, including I-25, U.S. 85, and Highway 14.

Dangerous Driving Conditions Early Wednesday

The advisory, which covers Fort Collins, Greeley, Sterling, and communities across Weld and Logan counties, will remain in place until 9 a.m. MDT. The heaviest fog is expected along I-25 from Loveland north to the Wyoming border and on U.S. 85 north of Greeley, where drivers may experience near-zero visibility in patches.

Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra braking distance. The Colorado Department of Transportation also recommends avoiding cruise control and delaying non-essential travel until visibility improves later this morning.

Sunshine Returns by Afternoon

Conditions will steadily improve through late morning as the fog lifts and sunshine returns. Afternoon highs are expected to reach around 65°F, with light winds and mostly clear skies making for a calm and pleasant fall day.

Mild End to the Week

Thursday and Friday will bring dry and mild fall weather, with cool evenings and light winds continuing. Forecasters say another weak front may approach over the weekend, but no significant precipitation is expected at this time.
