CSU launches honeybee health course amid rising pollinator decline

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — There’s a buzz at Colorado State University, where veterinary students are learning how to care for those important pollinators in a new course in honeybee medicine.

The course arrives at a critical moment.

“This is the first year that we’re teaching a course in honeybee medicine,” said Amy Franklin, a faculty member at CSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. “Not a lot of universities are doing this yet – it’s starting to catch on. Not a lot of veterinarians have training in honeybee medicine, so we’re trying to change that.”…
