What started as a butcher shop handing out free meat has grown into a community movement to help families impacted by the ongoing government shutdown.
Friendly Nick’s Butcher, at 2601 S. Lemay St., in Fort Collins went viral for giving away free bags of meat and eggs. They’re now also offering baby supplies — diapers, wipes and formula — to families struggling to make ends meet.
“We started with meat and eggs,” said owner Nick Chase. “But after the first couple of days, I saw people coming in with their kids.”…
