Last week, a Windsor man was sentenced to 45.5 years in prison after being found guilty of multiple charges related to a drive-by shooting that occurred on March 28, 2024. On the day of the incident, Windsor Police responded to the scene in the 600 block of Gyrfalcon Court after receiving reports of multiple shots fired. Kyle Bertsch, now 40 years old, was identified as the suspect. Witnesses said Bertsch fired multiple rounds at an occupied building while he was in his pickup truck. Damage was reported to the building and several vehicles parked nearby, but no injuries were reported.
Shortly after the incident, two witnesses reported that Bertsch brandished a firearm while they were driving near the Intersand America Corp. building on Weld County Road 23. Windsor Police, Severance Police, Weld County Sheriff’s Office, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, and other law enforcement agencies worked together to locate and apprehend Bertsch. It was nearly an hour long pursuit that caused damage to several law enforcement vehicles. Bertsch’s truck became inoperable in a northern Weld County field and he surrendered.
