Gas line puncture leads to mobile home explosion in Dacono

DENVER (KDVR) — Mountain View Fire Rescue says an explosion that destroyed a Weld County home on Tuesday was the result of a gas leak caused by a contractor doing work on underground fiber optic lines.

The mobile home was deemed a “complete loss” in the Glen Heather Court cul-de-sac. The explosion was the result of a punctured gas line that fed into the property

According to the fire agency, on Tuesday afternoon, a contractor was boring underground fiber optic lines in the cul-de-sac when the contractor hit a gas line.

Mountain View Fire Rescue and Black Hills Energy first responded to the area Tuesday afternoon for a reported gas line break, but once on the property, crews searched the area and found “only a light odor of gas and no readings on the air monitor.”…
