‘Heavily Involved’ House Fire Displaces Longmont Family

The Longmont Fire department responded to a “heavily involved house fire” in the 4200 block of Arezzo Drive on Sunday, December 7. Longmont Public Safety said that flames were visible from the roof upon the department’s arrival at the scene. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

According to Longmont Public Safety, the Red Cross responded to the scene and assisted the two occupants who lived in the home. According to Longmont Public Safety’s public information officer, Rogelio Mares, the Red Cross typically shows up to the scene of a fire when a family is displaced by a structure fire. The Red Cross will offer assistance and a place to stay temporarily while a family “settles their issues.” No injuries were reported due to the fire, but the department said that the property is not habitable.

Investigators believe that the fire started in the attic space. Mares said that the flames were put out by firefighters about 20 minutes after their arrival on the scene, but did not specify the exact time when the fire started…
