Some union Starbucks baristas in Denver join strike: Here’s what to know

DENVER (KDVR) — Some union Starbucks baristas in Denver joined the “Red Cup Rebellion,” a nationwide unfair labor practice strike, on Thursday.

The nationwide strike began about a month ago on Nov. 13. More than a thousand workers went on strike at 65 stores in a few states across the U.S. to protest the lack of progress in the stalled labor negotiations for higher pay and better hours.

Now, Berlin Rosen, a company representing Starbucks Workers United, said the strike has grown to over 3,800 baristas in 180 stores across 130 cities, with hundreds of baristas from 34 cities, including Denver, walking off the job on Thursday.

A spokesperson for Berlin Rosen said they can’t confirm the exact number of workers on strike in Colorado, but union Starbucks baristas from two stores in Denver, including the Starbucks on 16th Street and South Colorado Boulevard, two in Colorado Springs, one store in Fort Collins and one store in Lafayette are among the workers on strike…
