Northern Colorado has had an affinity for Taco Joh’s for decades, as the company got it start in Wyoming. Loveland’s only remaining Taco John’s closed in late November of 2025, saddening many. Quickly after, however, another fast food Mexican restaurant announced they were taking over the space.
Having grown up in Loveland, it seems like that Taco John’s was just “always there” at that winding turn right between Lincoln and Cleveland. Turns out, that it always had been there: Taco John’s started in 1969 and that Loveland spot was one of their first locations. You could say that it was a historic Taco John’s that was there on that “weird” corner.
The corner is known for accidents as much as it’d been known for being where Taco John’s was. I would think that another business would say, “pass” on opening a spot there; that appears to not to be the case, as t looks like Alvarado’s is coming in to put their own “Mexican Fast Food” mark on the spot.
Alvarado’s began as a food truck, but opened a brick-and-mortar location in the summer of 2023 in Englewood. Things have been going very well for them it would seem, with them taking on more locations.
