Dickens Opera House hosts ‘HoliGay’ drag show in Longmont

It’s December, and everyone seems to be either deeply festive or deeply congested. The air smells like pine trees … and cold medicine. Calendars and sinuses are equally clogged, energy is low, and holiday cheer — while well-intentioned — isn’t always enough to pull people out of the latest batch of seasonal sickness.

Sometimes, what’s needed is something campy, something theatrical and something that twinkles while simultaneously shimmying a silicone breastplate. Enter the Dickens HoliGay Drag Show, where drag performer Jessica L’Whor is planning to bring an entire evening of holiday spectacle and storytelling to the stage.

The show takes place at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Dickens Opera House, 302 Main St., Longmont, with music by DJ Pup Sam. The event, for those ages 21 and up, will offer a mixture of holiday-themed drag performances and games, some playful audience interaction and a full bar — offering two hours of high-energy escape.

And for L’Whor, the night also marks a return to Boulder County, where she has built a loyal following. She has performed throughout the Front Range, from Denver to Fort Collins, but said audiences in places like Longmont consistently show up, sell out shows and create an atmosphere where drag and queer art feel actively supported…
