Berthoud man offers reward for hat swept away by wind in Estes Park

A Berthoud man lost a beloved hat in Estes Park earlier last week, and he’s offering a cash reward to anyone who can return it to him.

John Lainson was crossing the parking lot at the UCHealth clinic in Estes Park on Dec. 9 when the wind snatched his gray-white Resistol western style hat off of his head and blew it down toward Lake Estes.

He chased the hat, given to him by his mother 50 years ago, but the wind was moving so quickly that he couldn’t keep up and lost sight of the treasured item. Now he’s offering $20 to anyone who returns the hat safely…
