On a bright but chilly day, Foothills mall welcomed families indoors, where a line of people waited to be served crisp, golden-fried latkes and the gentle clicks of kids spinning colorful dreidels could be heard at a table in the center. A large menorah stood with one illuminated flame, marking the first day of Chanukah on Dec. 14.
Hosted by the Chabad Jewish Center of Northern Colorado, the celebration ran from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and featured a giant menorah display, a balloon artist, free face painting from Swirls & Curls, stuff-your-own menorah plushies, and arts and crafts stations. Attendees also played “guess the gelt,” trying to predict how many dreidels were in a jar to win prizes.
