Northern Colorado emergency crews adjust operations for Wednesday’s strong winds

WINDSOR, Colo. — Emergency responders across Northern Colorado adjusted staffing and operations in anticipation of strong winds on Wednesday.

Hallie Marker, an emergency medical technician with the Community Health Program at the Poudre Fire Authority, said her team typically works with patients on an ongoing basis rather than responding to single emergencies. During the wind event on Wednesday, however, those responsibilities shifted. Marker said her team remained in service to reduce strain on frontline emergency responders.

“Today is a little different for us,” she said. “We are actually in service, and the purpose of that is to free up some of those fire crews and ambulance crews.”…
