Platte River Power Authority’s general manager says he disagrees with a federal order requiring one of the coal plants it owns a stake in to remain open past its scheduled retirement and is waiting to learn what it might cost Fort Collins’ wholesale electricity provider.
The U.S. Department of Energy on Dec. 30 issued an emergency order requiring Craig Unit 1 in Moffat County to remain available to operate for at least the next 90 days at the direction of the Western Area Power Administration or Southwest Power Pool West.
