Estes Park October sales taxes up year over year

Driven by an increase in the lodging sector, Estes Park sales tax collections for October of 2025 showed a 7.14% increase year over year, according to the town’s most recent report.

As of October, sales tax collections for the year stood at just over $20.4 million, an increase of 4.31% over 2024, Estes Park Grant Coordinator Sharla Beesley said in the report. The town remains ahead of budget on collections for the year by $109,319, or 0.67%.

Estes Park’s lodging industry reported an increase of 25.43%, or $112,768, in sales tax collections in October 2025 over October 2024. This included delinquent returns that were $9,469 higher than those filed in the prior year. After adjusting for delinquent returns, the sector experienced an increase of $103,299, primarily reflecting increased economic activity within the industry, Beesley said.

The automotive industry also saw a significant increase in collections, with an increase of 55.42%, or $8,937 in October 2025 over October 2024. Automotive sales taxes, however, make up a small slice of total revenue, about 1% of collections. In that sector, delinquent returns filed in 2025 were $4,059 higher than 2024.
