Driver allegedly assaulted by man and juvenile after striking and killing dog in Colorado

Two people, including a juvenile, are facing assault charges for events that allegedly transpired following a driver striking and killing a dog that ran onto a road in Weld County on January 3.

According to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, the driver hit the dog on Weld County Road 45 at about 3:46 p.m. The driver then parked his vehicle to inform and apologize to the owners. At that point, the 38-year-old suspect confronted the driver, along with a juvenile male.

The two suspects reportedly approached the male while screaming, with the older suspect being the dog’s owner. Both suspects then allegedly assaulted the driver while claiming that the driver owed them money for the dog. One or both suspects then allegedly attempted to take the driver’s watch. The juvenile suspect allegedly then started going through the man’s vehicle in search of something of value, with the 38-year-old suspect reportedly damaging the driver’s exterior car mirror…
