More People Are Leaving Colorado Than Moving In

When it comes to moving to or from Colorado, what do you think are some of the factors? Most of the people I know who have either moved into or out of the state of Colorado have done so to be closer to family, to accept a job, or for a simple lifestyle change.

Cost of Living Plays a Major Role in Moving Decisions

One of the biggest factors when it comes to people moving out of the state of Colorado is easily the cost of living. Colorado is not cheap when it comes to finding a place to live, whether that is to rent or buy.

As 2025 is now in our rearview mirror, United Van Lines has released its 49th annual Movers Study. This study shows where people are moving and why. According to this study, Colorado has yet again seen more people leaving than coming.

More People Leaving Colorado Than Moving In

In 2025, Colorado saw 45 percent of the moves into the state, and 55 percent were outbound to another state in the nation. The biggest demographic for residents moving out as aduts 65 and older.

Income demographics show that people who make up to $99,999 annually were the ones moving out. Those making $100,000 or more annually moved in at about the same rate as those who moved out of Colorado…
