39-year-old man identified as Longmont pedestrian killed in crash

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office has identified 39-year-old Joseph Alfaro as the Longmont pedestrian struck and killed in a New Year’s Day crash on Longmont’s Main Street.

Alfaro was crossing Main Street from east to west when he was hit by a man driving south on Main Street in the outside lane, according to police spokesperson Rogelio Mares. Longmont police responded to the crash at about 8:50 p.m. Officers were on the scene “within seconds,” Mares said, and provided medical aid to Alfaro, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, a Longmont resident, remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, Mares said…
