Fort Collins smokes record for warmest December, and it wasn’t close

Fort Collins didn’t just break the record for warmest December in reporting history that dates to 1893. It smashed it with some “eye-popping” numbers, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service said the city’s temperature averaged more than 3 degrees above the record thanks to a record three days of highs that reached 70 degrees or above.

December’s average temperature was 42.3 degrees, topping the record of 39.2 degrees set in 1993. The city saw temperatures above the normal high of 44 degrees on 26 of 31 days, including 17 days of temperatures 60 degrees or warmer…
