St. Vrain Valley plans to close Longmont’s Sanborn Elementary

The St. Vrain Valley School District plans to close Longmont’s Sanborn Elementary School and consolidate the school with nearby Northridge Elementary in the fall of 2027, district leaders announced at Wednesday’s school board meeting.

While a formal school board vote is still needed, no school board members raised objections or made any comments on the plan at the meeting. School district officials said they made the decision to close the north Longmont school at 2235 Vivian St. because of low enrollment.

“Sanborn Elementary, currently the smallest elementary school community in the St. Vrain Valley School District, can no longer sustainably provide the full range of educational opportunities that our students deserve,” said Kerri McDermid, St. Vrain’s chief of staff and strategic priorities…
