High Winds Cause Another Xcel Outage for KCSU

Following high winds in Larimer County, Xcel Energy announced another power shut off Thursday night, January 15, due to wildfire and other safety risks. The shutoff has gone into affect at 8.a.m. this morning, January 16, taking KCSU 90.5 FM broadcast off air.

At the time of writing this story, there are a total of 75 outages affecting 17,723 customers. Real time updates are available on the Xcel Energy website.

Same as the December 18 outage, it is unknown how long KCSU will be off air. It is estimated that wind conditions will improve around 4 p.m. but “restoring power ‘may take serval hours to several days.’”…
