Northern Colorado-born developer McWhinney has changed its name as part of a “strategic shift in the company’s investment approach,” according to a Jan. 14 news release announcing the change.
It will now be called Realberry as a nod to the small roadside strawberry stand the company’s founders — brothers Chad and Troy McWhinney — started in Southern California in the 1980s, according to the release and the company’s website.
Realberry’s rebranding comes as it shifts its financing approach from accepting million-dollar investments from private investors to advertising smaller investment opportunities on its website. Its first property offered under this new model is Red Hawk Crossings, a 60-unit build-to-rent Castle Rock community that’s advertised to investors on the Realberry website with a minimum buy-in of $100,000…
