Nearly half of the 766 students at Lesher Middle School participated in a student-led walkout Feb. 2 to protest the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Minneapolis and other American cities in recent months.
Students filed out the front doors of the school in central Fort Collins at 12:45 p.m. and onto the athletic fields behind it, lining the fence along Prospect Road. Students, standing two and three deep in some cases, held signs and chanted slogans including “ICE out,” “No More ICE” and “Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho, discrimination has got to go.”
Classes continued as scheduled inside the school for the students who chose not to participate…
