Sometimes running a restaurant in Colorado means going for something “completely different.” This spot in Windsor had seen a couple of iterations before launching a new concept in February of 2026.
How Long Has Ted’s Been in Windsor, Colorado?
In September of 2025, Ted’s Sweetwater Grill, which had been around since 2020, closed up and began working on “what’s next” for the longtime restaurant. While many around the area of RainDance were eager to hopefully see a coffee shop of some sort be the “next chapter,” it was announced that a “burgers and pizza” establishment would be the “new” Ted’s.
Ted’s Backyard Moves Away From Table Servers
Ted’s Backyard Burgers & Pizza goes with a concept that has been working for many fast-casual restaurants for a while: No sit-down service. Customers place their order at the bar, pay, and are given their drinks and a pager for when their order is ready.
Customers take their trays and trash to the containers, after dining at the casual booths/tables; they do have large “community” tables for bringing large groups. When you’re serving up smashburgers, pizzas, and chicken sandwiches, you can expect groups such as local softball players.
While things are different at Ted’s Backyard, it doesn’t mean that the décor had to change tremendously. Inside, while the seating is a bit different, you still get the feel of a mountain lodge; very comfortable.
