Man sentenced to probation for shooting of teen trying to break into car

LONGMONT, Colo. — A Longmont man accused of shooting a 13-year-old boy who was trying to break into his car more than four years ago was sentenced Tuesday in Boulder County District Court.

Patrick Gallagher was initially charged with eight counts, including first-degree attempted murder, related to the shooting on Jan. 18, 2022. He pleaded guilty last October to a single count of second-degree assault. On Tuesday he was sentenced to two years probation. He must also complete 80 hours of community service.
