Colorado’s ghost town legends arrive at the Estes Valley Library

Step back into Colorado’s storied past as local filmmaker and author Ethan Knightchilde brings the Colorado edition of his multimedia program, “Greetings from the Old West,” to the Estes Valley Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23.

From Silver Heels to Silver Cliff to the silver crash of 1893, Knightchilde will share some of his favorite legends drawn from the early days of the Centennial State. The presentation features archival and contemporary images, along with clips from his documentary, “Ghosts of the West: The End of the Bonanza Trail.”

Knightchilde has spent more than 25 years exploring the ghost towns and mining camps of the Old West, traveling tens of thousands of miles to document hundreds of historic sites. His approach to storytelling is guided by a simple principle: “The camps don’t need gratuitous visual treatments or narrative enhancements. It’s much easier to let them tell their own stories — often quite poignant or dramatic in their own right — without embellishment by authors and filmmakers.”…
