Wildland fire burning west of Longmont in Boulder County

DENVER (KDVR) — A wildland fire sparked in Boulder County west of Longmont on Wednesday.

The fire is in the Heil Valley Ranch off of Geer Canyon Drive, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

As of 8 p.m., Jamie Barker, field public information officer assisting the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, said the fire has burned about 7.5 acres. However, the fire is considered a “slow spread,” and first responders remain at the scene.

“They’re (firefighters) feeling confident about the work that they’re doing on the fire,” said Barker.

Barker said there were no homes located in the evacuation zone, but people inside the park were evacuated.

No injuries and structural damage were reported…
