Fort Collins residents near Mason Street and Mulberry Street were told to hunker down Friday evening after police issued a shelter-in-place order for the neighborhood and shut down part of a key downtown corridor. A heavy police presence moved into the area and closed Mason Street between Mulberry and Myrtle, snarling traffic around the edge of downtown. Officials have not said what triggered the response, only that officers were dealing with an active situation.
