LONGMONT, Colo. (KDVR) — Despite the fact that it feels more like spring than winter, the ice was flying in Longmont.
It was the location of the 2025-2026 UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup, “The World Cup starts in Slovakia, goes under the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Korea, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, United Kingdom,” said Aaron Tellier, owner of the venue Climbing Collective.

Experienced ice climbers from around the world, about 90 contestants from 16 countries, donned their boots, gloves, helmets and of course, ice picks to compete. The goal? To see who can make it up forty vertical feet of ice the fastest.
