What’s going on in Loveland along Highway 34?

Many cities and towns in Colorado spend money not only to fix aging infrastructure, but to help with safety and beautifying the city. Loveland has more than a few projects lined up for 2026, including three that caught our attention.

City of Loveland to Widen Highway 34 to Three Lanes Where There are Only Two

As of the beginning of 2026, there is a a traffic “bottleneck” on westbound Highway 34/Eisenhower between Fall River Drive (by In-N-Out & Panera) and Boyd Lake Avenue.

In the summer of 2026, they’ll begin adding a third westbound lane to Highway 34 between Fall River Drive and Boyd Lake Avenue. That’s “Phase 1″ of the widening project.

Not only will this help with traffic, but they’ll also be installing a desperately needed sidewalk along the northside of Highway 34. In the summer of 2027, they’ll work on the eastbound lanes from Boyd Lake Avenue to the interstate.

How Much Will the Widening of Highway 34 Cost?

The total budget for Phase 1 of the project is over $3.5 million, including just over $1 million coming from Loveland’s General Fund and over $2.2 million coming from a Federal Grant.
