CSP responds to multiple semi rollovers in Northern Colorado

NORTHERN COLORADO (KREX) —Colorado State Patrol (CSP) has responded to several semi-truck rollovers on Thursday morning following high wind conditions in Weld, Larimer and Jefferson Counties. Multiple roads have been closed due to high winds and safety concerns.

On I-25, troopers responded to four separate incidents in Weld and Larimer Counties:

  • At 7:05 a.m., on northbound I-25 at milepost 294, a semi hauling a trailer had rolled over and was reportedly leaking fuel. No injuries were reported.
  • At around 7:30 a.m., on southbound I-25 at milepost 294, a semi hauling a trailer had rolled over and was blocking the left lane. According to CSP, the semi was leaking fluids, and the driver was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
  • At 10:09 a.m., on northbound I-25 at milepost 278, a semi hauling a trailer had rolled over with no reported injuries.
  • At 10:21 a.m., on northbound I-25 at milepost 275, a semi hauling a trailer had rolled over and was blocking both the southbound lanes and southbound East Frontage Road. The semi was reportedly leaking fuel and there were no injuries, according to CSP.

In Jefferson County, troopers responded to three additional semi rollover incidents:

  • At around 8:44 a.m., on northbound Highway 93 at milepost nine, a semi hauling a trailer had reportedly struck a power line. The incident also involved a Subaru Outback. The 38-year-old driver of the semi was transported to a local hospital and the extent of his injuries is unknown.
  • At around 9:22 a.m., on eastbound I-70 at milepost 259, a semi hauling a trailer had rolled over and was blocking the entire eastbound lane. The semi was leaking 30 gallons of fuel, but there were no injuries.
  • At 9:32 a.m., on Highway 93 and Rocky Flats Plant Road, a semi hauling a trailer had rolled over and was leaking fluid, but no injuries were reported.

CSP is leading the investigation into the cause of all seven rollover crashes.

As of 1 p.m., the following roads were closed due to safety concerns:

  • Highway 93 is closed from Highway 72 to Highway 128
  • Interstate 70 is closed between exit 268 at Prospect Road and the Wyoming state line
  • U.S. Highway 85 is closed between County Road 108 and the Wyoming state line
