Poudre Fire Authority says the Sterry Fire that burned in the north Fort Collins area on March 12 was started by downed power lines caused by a fallen tree.
The fire burned 1 acre outside city limits, according to PFA, in the 400 block of North Highway 287, which is near Sterry Lane.
“The tree fell behind Wray Plumbing & Heating approximately 30 minutes prior to the first calls to 911,” PFA spokesperson Annie Bierbower said in an email to the Coloradoan. “The tree fell through the power lines, crashed through a fence, and landed in dead/dry grass at the heel of the fire’s area of origin, bringing the power lines with it.”…
