Weld hopes new program will CLEAR lead concerns

A new county program to help Weld County families test their homes for the presence of dangerous lead can now help replace equipment and provide tools to help them clean up, as well.

Weld County’s Public Health and Environment department unveiled CLEAR: Children’s Lead Exposure Action and Replacement on March 11. It provides free resources to families of children diagnosed with elevated blood lead levels, commonly referred to as lead poisoning.

“WCDPHE is excited to take this important step toward creating safer homes and brighter futures for Weld County children,” said Cassie Theisen, coordinator for the county’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. “CLEAR represents a meaningful commitment to health equity and prevention by helping ensure families have the resources they need to reduce lead hazards and protect children from exposure.”
