With “closed” signs still lingering in Old Town windows, Christie Rogers swept into Fort Collins’ Old Town Spice Shop late one Friday morning earlier this year.
“I wish my house smelled like this,” she said. Unlike Rogers’ nearby gift shop, Alpine Arts, which is lined with Colorado t-shirts, hats and decor, Old Town Spice Shop’s merchandise immediately hits you with its mingling aromas of different peppers, cinnamons and spice blends.
“You’d think that,” Sean Godbey shot back with a smile. After 15 years owning the shop, it turns out the powerful scent of competing spices isn’t all it’s cracked up to be — no pun intended…
