Starting March 1, the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) speed enforcement program began issuing warnings to drivers exceeding the posted speed limit on Interstate 25 in the work zone between Berthoud and Mead.
Drivers exceeding the 65 miles per hour speed limit will be issued warnings at four points along the I-25 work zone. The work zone is for the construction of new express lanes in both directions, expected to be completed in 2028.
“When you have a high volume of traffic, and you see a constrained environment, the margin for error gets very small,” Benjamin Acimovic, a manager for CDOT, said. “That’s true for any long-term construction that has barriers separating the traffic.”…
