Community Radio for Northern Colorado, home to news/talk KUNC (91.5) Fort Collins and adult alternative “The Colorado Sound” – carried on KJAC (105.5) Denver and translators K205FZ (88.9) Steamboat Springs and K232DX (94.3) Summit County – is exploring a potential merger with Denver-based Rocky Mountain Public Media, which includes jazz KUVO (89.3) and urban contemporary “The Drop 104.7” KUVO-HD2.
The companies have been in discussions about a merger since last year, according to BizWest, which reports that staff members have been told that no jobs will be lost in the merger, but business operations likely will be shifted to Denver, and the parties hope to consummate the merger by the end of June.
The merger comes as public broadcasting stations across the U.S. have had to come to terms with the halt in federal funding resulting from Congress’ vote to cut funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
