13 Craft Breweries No Longer in Fort Collins

There was a time in Colorado, when you could throw a rock and hit a craft brewery, especially in Fort Collins. The industry has certainly changed since its hey day; many breweries remain, several have shuttered.

Who Are the Oldest Remaining Craft Breweries in Fort Colllins, Colorado?

Coopersmith’s and Odell lead the way in making The Choice City a hotbed for craft breweries when they opened in 1989. Being “founders” in craft beer for Fort Collins, it’s great that the two still remain. The two inspired other craft brewers, that’s for certain. Some of those breweries succeeded, some did not.

While there are many craft breweries operating in Fort Collins today, it does make a person a bit melancholy looking at the list of breweries that used to exist in town. Places where you used to gather with friends/family for good beer and good times. Not that you can’t find that anymore, but it is sad.

A long list of craft breweries that have closed makes you want to make the effort to get out and enjoy the ones that remain, to make sure that they last. I’m not saying become a regular to several places, but to visit one or two a month could expose you to some great beers and people…
