Fort Collins man arrested, police feared mass shooting potential

A man arrested and accused of shooting at least a dozen vehicles with a pellet gun in west Fort Collins was found in possession of multiple firearms, police say, leaving investigators concerned about the potential for escalated violence.

Between July 2025 and January 2026, Fort Collins Police Services received 12 reports of vehicles being shot at by a pellet gun in the area of South Shields Street and West Mulberry Street. According to court documents, police estimate the total damage exceeds $15,000.

Following an investigation, police identified 55-year-old Jamal Lohrius as a suspect and conducted a search warrant at his home in the 300 block of South Shields Street on March 26. During that search, police reportedly found a loaded “AK style firearm” by the front door and several loaded magazines in a tactical sling in addition to a pellet gun consistent with the reported incidents…
