DENVER (KDVR) — As Colorado celebrates 150 years of statehood, FOX31 is taking a look at parts of our state’s history shaping what makes us so special today. The Colorado slopes skiers carve and love today are rich with history of snowsports pioneers past and present.
“Gosh, it goes really far back into the 1800s, 1880s and we do have some artifacts to speak to that,” Colorado Snowsports Museum & Hall of Fame Curator Dana Zapfel said.

Zapfel walked FOX31 through the treasure trove of the Colorado Snowsports Museum & Hall of Fame, the research & artifact collection facility in Wheat Ridge.
“We have about 15,000 artifacts here in the space,” Zapfel said. “Allegedly, this is Gerald Ford’s ski. It’s a Lovett ski that was made out in Boulder.”…
