Vehicle crashes through guardrail southeast of Estes Park early Monday

One person was extricated from their vehicle and sent to Estes Park Medical Center after a crash on U.S. 36 southeast of Estes Park early Monday.

Estes Valley Fire, Estes Park Paramedics and Estes Park Police were dispatched at 4:36 a.m. Monday to a report of a vehicle crash near mile marker 3 on U.S. 36 south of Estes Park. Responders found the vehicle had crashed through the guardrail and was lying approximately 50 feet off the roadway down a steep 40-foot embankment on the south side of U.S. 36.

The vehicle’s occupant was moved up the embankment using high angle rescue equipment, ropes and ladder, and then transported to Estes Park Medical Center…
